Swine Flu Propoganda
Larry Page, co-founder of internet giant Google™, has made claims that enforced six-monthly deletions of public data retained by Google would compromise its ability to predict threats like the non-existent swine flu pandemic. The European Commission wants public data deleted after a six month period but Mr Page, while at a Google event in Hertfordshire, UK, protested saying "More dialogue is needed with regulators." Google demonstrated that it had been able to spot a possible pandemic in advance of government agencies utilising its search data. Google had earlier argued that it was necessary to keep data for longer in order to assist law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of villains. The European Commission has argued that holding on to search data enables third parties to build profiles of individuals even if some identifying information is deleted.
